Regis in talks with Fox Sports

TV viewers could see a lot more of Regis Philbin talking about his beloved Notre Dame.

Philbin is in talks with Fox Sports for a substantial on-air role, which could include hosting a roundtable sports show, according to reports.

Philbin, who’s been off daily TV since leaving “Live with Regis & Kelly” in November 2011, could be the main anchor of the all-sports show, which could air either on Fox Sports or Fox Sports 1, the all-sports network rumored to be launching in August that would replace the Speed Channel.

Insiders say a number of different scenarios — on both networks — are being considered.

“Conversations have taken place, but any specific role, or potential show, have not resulted from those conversations or discussions at this point,” a source close to the situation told The Post yesterday.

Talks between Philbin, 81, and Fox Sports are “serious” and an agreement could be announced shortly, according to a report in sportsbusinessdaily.com.

Philbin — a proud Notre Dame alum who loves to talk about the school’s football team — told The Post through a spokeswoman that it’s “too soon” to comment on any rumored deals.

Fox officials declined to comment yesterday.
