Young thugs are responsible for a recent robbery spike in Red Hook and Gowanus — but a Brooklyn police captain says their parents are the real culprits.
Captain Jeffrey Schiff, who commands the 76th Precinct, said at a community-council meeting that about half of the suspects arrested for robbery since January last year are between the ages of 11 and 17.
“Where are the parents?” asked Schiff.
He mentioned a 15-year-old arrested for tailing a woman with a BB gun that looked real.
“If this guy turned around with this weapon . . . I’m not going to blame my cops for this. I blame the parents and the perpetrator.”
