Surprise! Larry King and Katie Couric kiss and make up

Larry King surprises Katie Couric on today’s “Katie” — where they discuss the ill-fated Washington, DC, date they went on 26 years ago.

Couric mentioned the infamous date in a recent appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” saying that the much-married former CNN talk show host “lunged” at her after driving her home from a local Italian restaurant — and compared it to “a bad Lifetime movie.”

On today’s show, Couric says she even remembers what King ordered that night.

“You ordered veal poached in chicken stock because you just had bypass surgery,” Couric says to King.

“That was hot.”

“We sat next to each other . . . you wanted to see my scar,” King replies, to which Couric mouths to her audience, “No, I didn’t.”

“We sat next to each other. We didn’t sit opposite each other and we faced the window,” says King.

“Now the other part changes after that,” he says.

“You said I drove you to my apartment. I have no memory of that,” King says.

Couric’s guest today is her good pal Wendy Walker, who produced “Larry King Live” for many years on CNN.

King, 79, married his seventh wife, Shawn Southwick, in 1997.

They have two sons together, Chance and Cannon.

“Katie” airs 3 p.m. today on Ch. 7.
