Flacco catches flak for Unitas movie

Joe Flacco has acted in plenty of commercials before, but his role in the upcoming film “Unitas We Stand” about the legendary Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas has some members of the Unitas family up in arms.

The Ravens quarterback will be playing Unitas in several scenes in the movie, including the famous 1958 NFL Championship Game in which the Baltimore Colts beat the Giants in sudden death, but John Unitas Jr, the elder’s son from his second marriage, said hiring Flacco for the role to play his father is a joke and he is a “goofball.”

Joe Unitas, the quarterbacks son from his second marriage, is a co-producer of the film, but John Jr.was so unhappy with the choice of Flacco, that he said he may take legal action.

“If you want a quarterback, go with Peyton Manning. My father was just like that. This is a joke,” John Jr. told USA Today on Sunday.

Joe Unitas wrote a letter to the Baltimore Sun yesterday which stated that he was sorry for John’s embarrassing comments and that “Joe is a respectable man, a great player and very similar to my dad in many ways.”

It’s been a busy past few months for Flacco, who is coming off a Super Bowl MVP performance and earned a new six-year $120 million deal from the Ravens.
