Driver in Morgan wreck seems to blame comic for his problems

The truck driver who crashed his rig into Tracy Morgan’s limo seems to be blaming his victims’ fame for his problems.

“I have some things to get off my chest that the media and police have neglected to report,’’ seethes a tweet posted Tuesday from an account under the name Kevin Roper.

“First off i never said i was awake for 24 hours, not once did i say that to any law enforcement or media person. These are lies being spread because [authorities] are pressured to make an arrest as this accident was being covered ‘NATIONALLY’ because a famous person was involved,’’ the person ranted.

In a criminal complaint Monday, authorities alleged that Walmart trucker Kevin Roper of Georgia hadn’t slept for more than 24 hours before the crash that killed Morgan’s mentor and critically injured the star and two other people.

The bio on the Twitter account, @kevinmoneytalks, reads in part: “Driving trucks for a living #Walmart.”

Calling the string of 11 tweets his “statement on the unfortunate accident that happened Saturday,’’ the person writes, “First off my prayers go out to all the families that were affected, my prayers to the man that passed away during the accident (Mr McNair) i wish it was me and i can’t express how horrible i feel.’’

The person then adds, “Once again the accident was horrific and we lost a precious life, but please remember i was not drunk, high, (I was tested and passed) under any influence of any drug or alcohol, i had an ‘ACCIDENT’ which unfortunately occurred with a lot of media spotlight.’’

“If my ACCIDENT occurs with no media spotlight i am issued a few traffic tickets. The excuse of me being up 24 hours is complete BS!

“I was never charged at the scene of the accident because once again i was not guilty of any crime. Not until all the TV cameras came did the police all of a sudden make a determination i was up 24 hours (sounds good and sells papers) also covers their ass.

“So yes i am now most likely fu*ked because i had an unfortunate ACCIDENT with the wrong car that night.”

Walmart has previously denied that the account is Roper’s. The company did not immediately return a phone call or email Tuesday.

Roper could not be reached.

Meanwhile, Ardie Fuqua, 43, a comic pal of Morgan’s, remained in critical but stable condition Tuesday, more than 72 hours after the deadly New Jersey Turnpike crash.

“He’s still in critical condition but at least he’s stable. He’s not getting worse,” Fuqua’s mom, Doris Fuqua, said Tuesday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. “He suffered a broken leg and a few other injuries. He’s sedated, can you imagine the pain otherwise?”

“I’m there every day. I imagine that he knows I’m there in spirit. He knows I’ll be there for him,” Doris Fuqua said. “It’s terrible, terrible. It’s taking a pretty big toll on the family. I have to stay strong for him.”

Doris Fuqua said her son has wanted to be a comedian since childhood.

“Even growing up, he was always very funny,” she said. “At 5 or 6 years old, he kept Charlie Brown joke books. He loves to make people laugh.”
