HOCKEY: Red Wings force Game 7 with OT win

In Detroit, Henrik Zetterberg scored his second goal 1:04 into overtime, lifting the Red Wings to a 4-3 win over the Ducks to extend their first-round series to a seventh game.

Detroit blew a two-goal lead in the last 3 1/2 minutes of the third period, sending the team to a fourth OT in a series for the first time in franchise history.

Second-seeded Anaheim will play host to seventh-seeded Detroit tomorrow night in the deciding game.

In Los Angeles, Dustin Penner scored the tiebreaking goal in the final second of the second period, and the Kings advanced to the second round with a 2-1 victory over the Blues in Game 6.

The defending Stanley Cup champions won four straight to finish off fourth-seeded St. Louis.

In Boston, Tyler Bozak and Clarke MacArthur scored and James Reimer stopped 43 shots to help the Maple Leafs beat the Bruins 2-1 and stay alive in their first-round playoff series. Game 6 is tomorrow in Toronto.

In Helsinki, reigning champion Russia lost for the second time in two days at the ice hockey world championships, falling 3-2 to Finland.

SOCCER: Ferguson to coach final home game

A crowd of 76,000 will have one final chance at home tomorrow to salute Alex Ferguson, the most successful manager in British soccer history.

With Manchester United having wrapped up the Premier League title, the game against Swansea has no real bearing on the standings. But the league trophy will be presented to Ferguson for the 13th and final time, and United’s players want to give their 71-year-old retiring manager a suitable send-off.
