Bus driver pepper sprayed by random stranger

An MTA bus driver was sprayed in the face with a type of pepper spray while driving his Inwood route, cops said Monday.

The bus driver was stopped at the corner of Isham Street and Sherman Avenue around 4 a.m. Saturday when a man ran up to the driver’s open window and sprayed the clear liquid into his face, cops said.

The suspect then fled west on Sherman Avenue flailing his arms and running down the street, video surveillance shows. The bus can be seen in the video starting up and driving through the intersection.

“An attack on one of our employees is an attack on all of us and we will assist NYPD in their investigation to apprehend this suspect and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” the MTA said.

The bus driver suffered irritation to his eyes.

The suspect, who was wearing a blue jacket, black jeans, and white sneakers, is believed to be in his 20s, standing 5-foot-7.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
