Mother and daughter die in LI blaze

Suffolk County homicide detectives are investigating a tragic Huntington Station house fire that took the lives of a woman and her daughter with Down syndrome Thursday night.

Officers arrived at the house at 11:42 p.m. Thursday and found Joseph Martinez, 29, in front of the engulfed residence after he had managed to escape through a basement window.

But cops soon found his mother, Reyna Paris, 64, and his sister, Rosemarie Martinez, 29, badly burned in separate bedrooms before all three were rushed to Huntington Hospital.

The two women were later pronounced dead, while Martinez was treated for minor injuries.

Arson investigators and homicide detectives are probing the fire to check for any signs of suspicious activity.
