Giants sign nephew of ‘The Boz’

Remember Brian Bosworth, otherwise known as “The Boz’’ during his wild and crazy days starring at linebacker at Oklahoma? His nephew, former Jaguars linebacker Kyle Bosworth, signed a contract with the Giants yesterday.

The Giants also signed Chase Clement, an undrafted tight end from LSU. Both players announced the signings on their Twitter accounts.

Kyle Bosworth, 26, was not drafted out of UCLA and played 25 games the past two seasons for the Jaguars. He appeared in every game this past season, starting five, and finished with 37 tackles.

Clement nearly signed with the Giants after the draft but did not pass his physical leading into the rookie mini-camp. His addition might help tight end Bear Pascoe spend more time at fullback, a spot in need of fortifying after starter Henry Hynoski last week underwent knee surgery and will likely be lost for the entire summer. Two fullbacks with NFL experience, Tony Fiammeta and Mike Cox, had workouts with the Giants, according to reports, but neither player was immediately signed.

Kyle Bosworth is a 6-1, 236 pound linebacker who arrived in the NFL with far less fanfare than his flamboyant uncle. Brian Bosworth was a two-time All-America player at Oklahoma known for his radical hair style, controversial comments and outgoing personality. He was drafted by the Seahawks in 1987 and did not have a long or storied NFL career.
