GOLF: Phil 3rd at Scottish Open

Phil Mickelson eased back into links golf with a 6-under 66 at the Scottish Open, leaving him tied for third with six others and behind two Englishman after a low-scoring first round.

John Parry, ranked No. 471, held the clubhouse lead after a bogey-free 64 and Simon Khan (65) finished alone in second.

Defending champion Zach Johnson shot a 7-under 64 and is tied with Camilo Villegas for the lead after the opening round of the John Deere Classic.

Matt Bettencourt made the field as a late alternate and shot a 6-under 65. He’s tied for third with Daniel Summerhays and Brendon de Jonge.

Kenny Perry shot a 3-under 67 and is tied for the lead with Tom Lehman and five others at the U.S. Senior Open at Omaha Country Club.

NBA: Hawks sign Schröder

The Hawks, facing a decision with restricted free agent Jeff Teague, signed point guard Dennis Schröder, a first-round draft pick from Germany.

Teague signed a four-year, $32 million offer sheet with the Bucks. The Hawks have three days to match it.

After agreeing to the framework of the deal the day before, the Timberwolves acquired Kevin Martin via a sign-and-trade with the Thunder and dealt Luke Ridnour to the Bucks.

Milwaukee also got a 2014 second-round draft pick from Minnesota. Oklahoma City got the draft rights to second-round draft pick Szymon Szewczyk from the Bucks. The Thunder also sent an undisclosed amount of cash to the Timberwolves and the Bucks.

Also, the Timberwolves agreed with former Knick Ronny Turiaf to a two-year, $3.2 million deal.

The Nuggets signed free-agent forward J.J. Hickson to a three-year deal. … Nick Young and the Lakers agreed to a one-year deal, according to USA Today. … Ex-Knick Chauncey Billups and the Pistons agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal.
