Betty White is ‘Off’ the air

Even red-hot Betty White isn’t immune from the cancellation scrap heap.

NBC has canned White’s “Candid Camera”-type show, “Off Their Rockers,” after two seasons of middling ratings.

The series, in which seniors punked younger people, got off to a strong start in April 2012, snaring 12 million viewers following NBC’s 90th birthday tribute to White.

But it couldn’t sustain those numbers, and quickly shed viewers.

White, 91 — the former “Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Golden Girls” co-star, also stars in TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland.”

She has experienced a late-career renaissance, appearing in a 2010 Super Bowl ad (with “Barney Miller” star Abe Vigoda), hosting “Saturday Night Live” (for which she won an Emmy) and, last year, earning an Emmy nod for hosting “Off Their Rockers.”
