Obama’s ‘Smart’ management

The Issue: Pres. Obama’s call for the public sector to work with the “smartest” people in the private sector.

Getting the government to act “smart” is a convoluted hypothesis based on probable failure in efficiency and costs (“Get Smart, Mr. Prez,” William McGurn, PostOpinion, July 12).

For decades, private-sector smart people have lifted this nation out of economic troubles by creating wealth and financial independence.

President Obama’s “smart” ideology creates no wealth and strips the individual of self-respect and initiative. The hypocrisy displayed by his “smart” government is purely based on his outsmarting the public.

When a small group of masterminds believes it is smarter than the populace, the chaos of tyranny ensues.

As McGurn points out, the collective intelligence and experience of a few can in no way match the wisdom of millions.

As we’ve learned from countless examples of the few pushing their “wisdom” on the masses, misery results. We’ve seen failed communism, fascism, dictatorships and monarchies, like that of King George III, which our forefathers rejected in favor of the God-given, unalienable rights of man. We reject Obama and those who believe they are smarter than us. As Americans, we reject those who tell us how to live our lives.

As these smart, Soviet-style plans inevitably fail, instead of pulling back, these masterminds blame the citizenry and impose more of their wisdom until a death spiral of economics, liberty and human spirit overwhelms society.

That’s the end result of Obama’s smart dream: a nightmare.Joe Connor
