All-Star price record

Tickets to tonight’s All-Star Game were going for record-high prices as fans ponied up for the first midsummer classic in Queens since 1964.

The average asking price for an All-Star Game ducat at Citi Field was $808 at the close of business yesterday, according to TiqIQ.com, which analyzes secondary-market ticket sales.

That’s way up from the $576 average in Kansas City last season, $284 in Phoenix in 2011 and $594 in Anaheim in 2010.

Curiously, prices for last night’s Home Run Derby were actually down from last year — $331, compared with $360 (2012), $187 (2011) and $227 (2010).

Chris Matcovich, VP of data for TiqIQ, theorized that fans weren’t as excited about the Home Run Derby because “Citi Field is not a fan home-run-friendly park” where spectators can easily grab a longball.

“[There’s] a lot of empty space where home runs can fall.”
