Former ‘Runway’ model heads to trial for false mugging claim

A gorgeous former “Project Runway” contestant, accused of lying to cops about being mugged, is headed to trial.

Morgan Quinn claims a homeless man shook her down for a $5,000 cocktail ring and a Chanel bag last August — but cops said video surveillance knocked down her story.

Quinn told The Post Tuesday that she bought a brand new $800 ring for some legal luck. “It’s an emerald with diamonds,” she said of the large rectangular stone.

Quinn, 31, wore a matching vintage green sweater dress she said she picked up for $26 to Tuesday’s appearance in Manhattan Criminal Court, where a judge set a March 25 date for pretrial hearings.

She told police that a menacing man threatened her with a sharp object before forcing her into a Murray Hill building and snatching the valued gem and her purse.

But cops didn’t buy her story and claimed surveillance video showed her entering the building of her own free will with the alleged perpetrator.

When cops found her purse a week later, they hit her with a filing a false report rap.

But defense lawyer Brian Kennedy claims surveillance video shows the alleged mugger fleeing via the back door with Quinn in hot pursuit.

“There’s a guy out there who robbed somebody and the video shows this guy running out of the building, then Morgan running after him, and this guy is still out there,” said Kennedy.

Manhattan prosecutors previously offered the blond bombshell two days of community service if she copped to the charge, but she turned down the deal.

Quinn said she believes cops accused her of lying because they didn’t like her attitude.

Nicknamed “Morganza” for her hysterical meltdowns on the hit reality show’s first season, Quinn did concede that she was excitable when she met with cops.

“I wish I had acted a little bit differently, but I was upset,” she said. “I had just been mugged and thrown down the stairs.”
