Woman injured in double-decker tour bus accident

A double-decker tour bus struck and injured a woman in the West Village Wednesday afternoon, leaving her bloodied in the street as the stunned passengers looked on, authorities and a witness said.

The blue, City Sights bus was heading south on Seventh Avenue about 5 p.m. when it struck the woman near West 14th Street, pinning her under the bus, cops said.

The unidentified victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with multiple, life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said wasn’t immediately clear if the woman was jaywalking or if the bus ran a red light, police said.

But witness Richard Taylor, 48, of Jackson Heights, said it appeared as if the bus driver didn’t see the elderly victim.

“I arrived here just as it was happening. This old woman was in the crosswalk on Seventh Avenue. The bus driver just didn’t see her,” Taylor said.

“She got clipped by the front tires and went under the bus. Then she rolled under the back tires. She looked pretty bad.”

Taylor described a bloody scene.

“She was screaming. Her head was fractured. Her legs looked broken and ripped up. There’s blood puddling on the rear tire,” he said.

“The people at the top of the bus were freaking out and in shock. Everyone was calling 911. These people’s are going to remember this vacation for sure.”
