Map app wins MTA contest

Talk about pocket money.

Citymapper — a phone app that allows riders to plan their trips using real-time subway and bus info, as well as Citi Bike and weather information — scored the grand prize in the 2013 MTA AT&T App Quest contest Tuesday.

The winning developers and designer, who originally created the app for London, walked away with $20,000 for the top prize, plus $2,000 for winning in the “Wish List” category.

The Subculture.FM app, which connects riders with musicians on the subway, scored second place.

“We’re amazed by the creativity we’ve seen from the development community,” said MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast.
