Jets coordinator: Wilson will get back at Bills WR

Jets cornerback Kyle Wilson got a message from defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman after he picked up four consecutive penalties on Sunday against the Bills.

“The football gods will allow you to get even with a guy, especially if he’s wronged,” Thurman said Thursday. “It may not happen in that game, it may not happen the next time you play him. But as some point along the line, you’ll get a chance — with a fair, clean hit — you’ll get an opportunity to get him back. You have to wait and be patient.

“Trust me, when guys have been wronged on the football field by someone … ask anyone if they got a chance to get revenge. They’ll tell you yes. It happens that way. That’s the way it’s supposed to happen.”

Wilson had a meltdown in the fourth quarter against the Bills after Buffalo wide receiver Stevie Johnson got under his skin. Wilson has avoided the media this week, so he has not explained what exactly happened.

“It happens, it’s not that big a deal,” Thurman said. “It’s a teaching moment.”

Coach Rex Ryan said this week Wilson could move out of the starting lineup and into the nickel role he had occupied. If Dee Milliner can’t play, expect Darrin Walls to start on the outside.

NFL Films caught an interesting moment in Sunday’s game. Ryan wore a microphone and the NFL Network broadcast “Sound FX” this week with footage and sound from the Jets-Bills game. At one point, Ryan asks if anyone in the coaches’ booth has a playbook. He then gets annoyed when no one does. Ryan refers to it as “the bible” and says someone should go to the Jets’ facility in Florham Park to get it, even if it means taking a helicopter.

Ryan explained Thursday.

“What happens with that, each week you have a different game plan,” Ryan said. “It’s about this thick or whatever. Every now and then, somebody will fly off the radar, give me the bible, I want to see this, this and this from it. That’s not in your game-plan specific book. That’s in the stuff you did in training camp or something you’ve done in the past. I call it a bible. That time I was probably looking for the real Bible, too, but that’s how it goes.”

Ryan said they did not have one, but “found a way to get it.” It was an interesting behind-the-scenes moment caught by the cameras.

He is expected to play.
