Peebles buys Stanford White building for $160M

Don Peebles, of the Peebles Corporation, closed on a $160 million purchase of a landmarked Stanford White building in Tribeca on Wednesday, The Post has learned.

The building at 346 Broadway at Leonard Street covers an entire city block on Broadway between Worth and Canal streets.

It is a stunning 460,000-square-foot prewar structure in desperate need of renovation sold by the city in order to fill its depleted coffers.

Peebles told The Post he will convert it into luxury condos and a five -star luxury boutique hotel.

“It is a Central Park West, Fifth Avenue style prewar building — in Tribeca,” Peebles said. “It will fill a need that hasn’t been served before. It will have all of the grandeur and history of a landmarked prewar building with modern luxury amenities.”

That means spacious apartments with grand-ceiling heights that run as high as 18 feet.

It will also include 150 parking spaces.
