“Community” isn’t dead after all.

The former NBC comedy is being revived by Yahoo, according to reports, which will premiere a new 13-episode season this fall, bringing the cult sitcom one step closer to its fans’ dream of “six seasons and a movie.”

The deal closed at the 11th hour, as the actors’ contracts were set to expire on Monday. Creator Dan Harmon will return for the new season, as will stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong and Jim Rash.

“I am very pleased that ‘Community’ will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” Harmon said in a statement. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, ‘Big Bang Theory.’ Look out, ‘Bang Bus!’ ”

NBC canceled the cult comedy in May after five seasons of critical acclaim but low ratings. “Community” marks the most high-profile acquisition for Yahoo Screen, whose current programming consists mostly of old episodes of “Saturday Night Live.”
