Buffett’s money safe after Memphis win

Warren Buffett can breathe easy.

Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway-owned Quicken Loans teamed with Yahoo! to offer a $1 billion giveaway for anyone who picked every game’s winner throughout the tournament.

But all of the 8.7 million people who entered have already been eliminated.

The carnage hit early: An overwhelming 83 percent of entrants in Yahoo!’s Tourney Pick ’Em game had their billion-dollar hopes dashed after Dayton defeated Ohio State Thursday. And that was even before Harvard’s upset win over Cincinnati and Mercer College’s victory over Duke on the following day.

The backbreaker, which eliminated the final three bracket hopefuls, came when the eighth-seeded Memphis Tigers beat George Washington 71-66 in the East Regional.
