AJ McCarron’s week got worse after rough draft

Well, at least he still has Katherine Webb.

AJ McCarron had one of the rougher NFL draft weekends as he plummeted to the fifth round before being taken by the Bengals. There were rumors the former Alabama quarterback rubbed NFL executives the wrong way during the interview process with a “cocky” attitude. That he did not play in the Senior Bowl or hold private workouts probably did not help either.

“A lot of people don’t realize I wasn’t healthy at Alabama,” McCarron told SiriusXM Radio. “I sacrificed a lot to play for coach [Nick] Saban and that university; I played through a lot of injuries and we never leaked it because that’s just the way it is. I’ve played through a lot, just try to fight through for my teammates and my team.”

McCarron’s probably not the first player to battle through an unreported injury, and this seems to have caught the attention of Alabama fans, who tend to be less than level-headed when it comes to their love of the Crimson Tide.

McCarron took to Twitter to respond to the backlash.

McCarron will battle Jason Campbell to be Andy Dalton’s backup in Cincinnati.
