ACC tournament may move to Barclays Center in 2017

The new-look Big East doesn’t have a lot of time to develop a following around here. The big, bad ACC is coming to town soon, according to a Sports Illustrated report.

The powerhouse basketball conference, which added Syracuse, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh this season and has Louisville coming in next year to join the likes of Duke and North Carolina, is finalizing details to move its postseason tournament to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center as soon as 2017, according to the report.

The ACC Tournament is locked into Greensboro, NC, for next year and Washington in 2016, but has no commitment for 2017.

According to SI, the one hangup is the Atlantic 10 is slated to play its postseason tournament at Barclays in 2017. The Big East and the Garden, meanwhile, have a contract through 2026.
