Bishop sprung after de Blasio call: It was all a misunderstanding

The Brooklyn bishop who sparked a political firestorm when he was arrested for driving with a suspended license, but spared a night in jail after Mayor de Blasio called a police official, was in court Thursday saying the whole thing was a misunderstanding.

“It was some kind of mix-up,” defense attorney Mark Pollard said outside the Brooklyn Criminal Court courtroom where Bishop Orlando Findlayter turned down an offer from prosecutors to pay $75 to resolve the February case.

Pollard said his client’s license was improperly suspended after Findlayter canceled his car insurance, and that Findlayter was never notified that his license had been suspended.

“I’ll be giving this information to DA Thompson and I expect the case will be dismissed,” said Pollard.
