Chrysler orders destruction of $250K Dodge Vipers

Chrysler giveth and Chrysler taketh away.

On Tuesday, the Detroit-based automobile manufacturer ordered that the complete collection of educational donation Dodge Viper SRTs must be crushed within two weeks.

It is believed that 93 of the $250,000 pre-production vehicles will be destroyed nationwide, reports The Olympian, a paper out of Washington state.

A spokesman for the company would not comment on the decision, but Norm Chapman, a professor at South Puget Sound Community College in Tumwater, Wash., said he thought it was because two of the vehicles were involved in accidents that cost parent company Fiat millions.

Car companies regularly donate vehicles that cannot be sold to high schools, colleges and tech schools for educational purposes, according to the report.
