ABSTRACT:

ALBANY – Fourteen state lawmakers sued in Brooklyn Supreme Court yesterday to nullify a new law temporarily withholding their pay because a state budget hasn’t been passed.

The lawmakers, all Democrats, named Gov. Pataki and state Comptroller Carl McCall in the suit as they sought to have the law declared unconstitutional. It was passed in December as part of a deal giving lawmakers 38 percent pay increases…. …. Among those filing the suit were Sens. Tom Duane of Manhattan, Efrain Gonzalez Jr. of The Bronx and Velmanette Montgomery of Brooklyn; Assemblyman Alexander Grannis of Manhattan, Albert Vann, Felix Ortiz, Lena Cymbrowitz, James Brennan and Rhoda Jacobs, all of Brooklyn; and Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz of The Bronx.
