Former All Things D team reveals plans at NBC

It’s a new day for tech journalists Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, who confirmed Thursday the worst-kept secret in media circles — they are joining Comcast’s NBCUniversal with their All Things D team of reporters.

Their new venture, Revere Digital, launched tech site Re/code, which is being funded by former Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel’s Windsor Media. NBCUniversal’s News Group will also take a stake in their new company.

The former All Things D team had largely been part of News Corp. and had operated as a part of the Wall Street Journal — though Swisher was an independent contractor.

News Corp. also owns The Post.

The new venture is valued between $25 million and $35 million, according to Bloomberg.

Under the deal, the Re/code team will appear on NBCUniversal’s CNBC and MSNBC and NBC’s “Today” and “Nightly News with Brian Williams.”

CNBC will be the media partner for conferences.

Revere on Thursday announced a May conference costing $6,500 per ticket — a $1,000 increase on the price tag of its prior D conference.

“It’s a gutsy move,” said high-powered tech PR executive Michele Clarke, of the new asking price. “They’re probably the only conference that can justify a 20 percent price increase at this time,” she noted.

The former D conference was frequently sold out and drew the likes of Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

This year’s conference has Swisher’s new boss, Brian Roberts, CEO and chairman of Comcast, in the line-up.

Clarke pointed out that the upcoming World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, costs CEO attendees around $12,500.

Meanwhile, the old All Things D site now points to WSJD, which is staffing up with a new tech team. The publication will hold its own conference in the fall.

A spokeswoman said pricing is yet to be decided.
