WATCH: Colbert makes up for Daft Punk diss with ‘Get Lucky’ dance number featuring Matt Damon, Jimmy Fallon, others

Daft Punk? Who needs ’em?

Not Stephen Colbert.

The Comedy Central host, spurned by the band for his “StePhest Colbchella” show, made due without them. And his makeshift performance of “Get Lucky” on “The Colbert Report” was probably better anything Daft Punk could have pulled off.

Colbert’s dance number included cameos from Matt Damon, Jimmy Fallon, Jeff Bridges, Hugh Laurie, Nick Cannon, Bryan Cranston – and even Henry Kissinger.

Daft Punk cancelled the gig, because it would void its contract with MTV for a “surprise” performance at the VMAs. MTV and Comedy Central are both owned by Viacom.

“I don’t care what MTV allows,” Colbert said. “My audience gets the song of the summer if they want it.”

Cranston’s roller disco performance and The Matt Damon Booth were particular highlights. And, of course, Colbert pulls it all together with his faux serious dancing.

You could tell the host was a little upset by the blow off, though. He called Daft Punk reneging “a real kick in my balls … brought to you by Hyundai.”
