The family of the British tourist whose left foot was severed this week in a freak cab crash said the plucky former beauty queen is doing “as best she can” while doctors try to save her mangled right leg.
Sian Green’s mom and dad, Sonia and Jason, arrived in Manhattan from England late Wednesday and spoke to reporters briefly before leaving their hotel for their daughter’s bedside.
“We got in last night. We’ve been with her since then. [She’s] doing as best as she can be,” her father said.
The Greens, with Sian’s boyfriend, William Lord, also thanked the dozens of people who came to their daughter’s aid.
“There are not enough words to express our gratitude to everyone,” the family said. “Everyone we have come into contact with [has] been more than helpful in ensuring our daughter is being well taken care of.”
The director of Bellevue’s surgical intensive care unit told WNBC that Sian’s left leg was amputated below the knee, while her right leg “will likely regain most functionality.”
