NBC orders new Tina Fey doomsday cult comedy

NBC is reteaming with some of its former sitcom talent for its next comedy.

The network has given a straight-to-series, 13-episode order to a new comedy from “30 Rock” executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock starring Ellie Kemper (“The Office”).

The series, which will premiere next fall, centers on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts her life over in New York City. Fey and Carlock, who won multiple Emmys for their work on “30 Rock,” will write the series and executive produce with David Miner.

It is the second series order for Fey and Carlock for the 2014-15 TV season. Fox previously picked up a comedy from the duo and their former “30 Rock” Matt Hubbard set at a women’s college that begins accepting male students for the first time.
