What to watch this week

“Burn Notice” (Thursday, 9 p.m., USA)
After seven summers swilling Mojitos with the ultra-cool Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), we have reached the end of his super spy career. If you’re reading this early enough, you can catch up with what you missed of the final season via the day-long marathon, which begins at 6 a.m. For a series that’s always fallen on the darkly funny side, our agent Westen has seemingly dug himself into a hole he can’t get out of, and a depression over betraying his friends that he may not be able to overcome. (Spoiler alert: one character is going to die in the series finale.) Summer won’t be the same without this Miami gang.

“The Newsroom” (Sunday, 10 p.m., HBO)
It took creator Aaron Sorkin an entire season to flash back from the premiere’s meeting with the ACN lawyers over the Genoa debacle, but last week’s episode was good enough to almost make it worth the wait. The sophomore season of this fake newsroom covering real news improved, although it still errs on the sanctimonious side. But the good news is that there is actual progress on at least two personal lives in this supposedly high-powered newsroom whose romantic entanglements rival those of “Glee.” Starring Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer.

David Boreanaz as Agent Booth in “Bones.”FOX

“Bones” (Monday, 8 p.m., Fox)
One of the few early risers in the drama category, the procedural returns for season nine, followed by the premiere of the new series “Sleepy Hollow.” When we last saw them, Booth (David Boreanaz) was breaking Bones’ (Emily Deschanel) heart by telling her he didn’t want to marry her. He was coerced into this decision by a serial killer who threatened to kill innocent people if Booth didn’t break off his engagement with Bones, with whom said serial killer was obsessed. You could drive a car through the holes in this particular plot point, but it is still a heart-tugger to watch the normally cold Bones dealing with the now-cold Booth.

“Orphan Black” (Saturday, 10 p.m., BBC America)
If you didn’t bother watching this import when it aired last season, make the time in your DVR to catch up on the fantastic Tatiana Maslany, who plays no fewer than six duplicates in this thriller that will keep you guessing. Season one re-airs in weekly installments starting Saturday.
