Carson Daly lands new gig on NBC

Carson Daly has added an NBC morning gig to his prime-time and late-night resume.

Daly, who currently hosts “The Voice” and “Last Call,” is joining “The Today Show” this Monday, Sept. 16 — when the NBC morning show unveils its revamped Studio 1A.

Daly’s role on “Today” will be as the host of its new “Orange Room,” a digital studio that will function, according to NBC, as “a hub of emerging technology, equipped for everything from social media hangouts to extended live-stream interviews with ‘Today’ guests, analysis of real-time social data and reactions from the Web.”

“Carson will bridge ‘Today’s’ television and digital platforms and offer audiences the chance to communicate and connect with the show unlike ever before,” NBC said in a statement.

Daly will continue hosting “The Voice,” but will leave “Last Call,” though he will continue to serve as the show’s executive producer.

NBC said that transition plans for “Last Call” (i.e. a new host) will be announced “at a later date.”
