Pedro Martinez gets TV gig with TBS

It sounds like a nightmare for Yankees fans.

For the second time in 19 seasons, their team will not be in the postseason, and not only are the Red Sox back in the postseason after a two-year absence, but Yankees foe Pedro Martinez will be in the studio for TBS throughout the postseason.

“(I got) and invitation to do an audition, and it seems nice so far,” Martinez, who will be sitting alongside Keith Olbermann, said.

“I have seen a lot of other players do it. So it has to be nice!”

There will be plenty to analyze this postseason.

The Pirates make their triumphant return after 21 consecutive years of missing out on meaningful October baseball. The Pirates will face the Reds in Tuesday’s National League wild-card play-in game.

Then there’s the possibility of Terry Francona returning to Boston to play the Red Sox. First, Francona’s red-hot Indians have to hold off the Rangers for the final wild-card spot then most likely beat the Rays in the AL play-in game to set up an ALDS showdown. It’s a tantalizing possibility worth keeping an eye on.

The Tigers, Athletics, Braves, Cardinals and Dodgers are the other teams that will be involved in the postseason.
