Legless war vet’s brave 9/11 tribute

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Matt Lammers lost both legs and an arm in Iraq — but still insisted on paying tribute to fallen 9/11 firefighter Stephen Siller in the Tunnel to Towers Run Sunday.

Lammers donned an FDNY jacket and walked through the Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel, tracing the path taken by Siller as he ran through the tube, unwittingly to his death. Adopted from Korea by American parents, Lammers enlisted in the Army at 18 to show his gratitude to the US.
