Jets to bench struggling Ducasse for Winters

The Jets are making a change to their starting offense this week, but it’s not at quarterback.

The Jets will start rookie Brian Winters at left guard and bench Vlad Ducasse, a source confirmed.

Winters was the team’s third-round pick in April’s NFL Draft out of Kent State. Winters was slowed by an ankle injury during training camp and was beat out by Ducasse.

Ducasse, the team’s second-round pick in 2010, showed promise in the team’s first two games. He played his best game against the Patriots in Week 2, pancaking Vince Wilfork on a touchdown run. But he struggled in the last two weeks. He’s committed four penalties and struggled in pass protection.

The Jets released RB Kareem Huggins from the practice squad and signed LB Troy Davis to take his place.
