Fallon fans rank him higher than Leno

Jay who?

Fans who attended Jimmy Fallon’s debut Monday said the new “The Tonight Show” host was a welcome improvement over his predecessor, Jay Leno.

“Fallon is just fresh and energetic,” said Dana Bevans, 54, of Connecticut. “Leno toward the end of his run was just so tired. You could tell that heavy chin of his was weighing him down. I think [Fallon] skews toward a younger audience, but he makes the older guys like me feel young, too.”

John Davis, 28, of Toronto, said Fallon “just connected with the crowd so well and he can do so many more things that Leno can’t.”

Lou Paskalis, 49, of Manhattan, said, “Fallon owned it — it was his room.”

“I think in 20 years I’ll think, ‘This was the moment and I was there.’ ”
