THREE CITY UNION BIGS SUSPENDED

A union local affiliated with scandal scarred District Council 37 has suspended two of its top officials in a scam involving car allowances, The Post has learned.

President Kevin Lightsey and vice President Kirk Delnick of the local that represents more than 2,500 emergency medical technicians and paramedics were suspended Tuesday, sources told The Post.

The sources said the two were accused of accepting allowances of more than $7,000 a year to compensate them for using their personal cars, while DC 37 was leasing each of them a Buick.

A third official, Secretary Treasurer Rudy Boyd, was suspended for allegedly mismanaging finances and obstructing an investigation into the local, the sources said.

This is the latest scandal involving DC 37, an umbrella organization of locals representing some 120,000 city workers.

Its former executive director, Stanley Hill, was placed on unpaid leave last November in the wake of allegations that the union’s vote approving the last city contract was rigged. There have also been charges of embezzlement and kickbacks involving several executive board members.

The union’s parent organization, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employes has taken over DC 37 pending its own investigation and a probe by the Manhattan DA.
