Charming nature documentary spotlights ‘Lemurs’

Here’s the story of the world’s oldest primate, who lives on an island and sings like an air raid siren. But it turns out it isn’t about Liza Minnelli. Still, the IMAX documentary “Island of Lemurs: Madagascar” has its charms, capturing adorable images of the little ones in the only place on Earth where they can be found in nature. They scamper merrily through the forests, leaping through the trees one step ahead of the uncontrolled fires that threaten to extinguish them.

This Morgan Freeman-narrated documentary doesn’t stray much from the nature-doc formula of making its stars look frisky and winsome while sprinkling in a few info-nuggets about the critters (they’re older than dinosaurs!). And that’s just fine.
