BULL DIES AFTER QUEENS DASH

A bull’s 14-hour dash for freedom through the streets of Queens ended last night when it died less than hour after being guaranteed a place on an upstate animal sanctuary.

The bovine keeled over 45 minutes after cops corralled it at 116th and Bessemer streets, in Richmond Hill.

“There were no visible signs of injury or trauma so it’s difficult to determine the cause of death,” said Richard Gentles, a spokesman for New York’s Center for Animal Care and Control which was caring for the animal.

“It was being monitored all the time, but it died 45 minutes after it arrived at our facility.”

The bull was first spotted early yesterday morning, charging down Atlantic Avenue in Woodhaven with an unknown man chasing it.

But it disappeared until shortly before 10 p.m., when it dashed along Jamaica Avenue, crashing into a parked car as it led cops on a 20-mph bull run.

Gentles said it had already won its freedom.

“Farm animals that come into our facility are taken to farm sanctuaries,” he said.

Cops are still trying to find out where the animal came from.

On Sept. 18 last year, another cow stampeded through Briarwood, Queens, and was taken to an upstate farm after being captured. It is thought that one escaped from a slaughterhouse.
