BASEBALL: Curt rips Manny

Curt Schilling said former teammate Manny Ramirez‘s behavior in Boston was a drain on his teammates and disrespectful to manager Terry Francona.

Speaking on a Boston radio station Wednesday, Schilling said Ramirez’s “level of disrespect to teammates and people was unfathomable.”

* Tampa Bay rookie Evan Longoria homered three times, but the Rays blew an 8-6 lead in the ninth inning and lost to the Twins 11-8 last night in St. Petersburg.

* Tigers manager Jim Leyland was suspended for three games for “inappropriate conduct” during a road game this week in Texas.

GOLF: Sebonack lands Open

Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, L.I., has been chosen by the site of the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open . . . Michelle Wie shot a 2-over 74 in the third round of the LPGA qualifying tourney at Rancho Mirage, Calif. She trails leader Anna Nordqvist by five shots.

* Marc Turnesa shot a 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Brian Gay at the PGA Tour’s Viking Classic in Madison, Miss. . . . Old Oaks head pro Bobby Heins defeated Tom Sutter of Randalls Island on the first playoff hole to win the Met PGA Seniors Championship yesterday at Pine Hollow.

TENNIS: U.S. faces Spain

Sam Querrey of the U.S. will face Spain’s Rafael Nadal in today’s opening singles match of the Davis Cup semifinal in Madrid. No. 8 Andy Roddick faces No. 5 David Ferrer in the other singles on the first day of the best-of-five format.

NBA: Beasley fined

Miami rookie Michael Beasley was fined $50,000 by the NBA for his involvement in an incident at the Rookie Transition Program earlier this month.

The NBA also said Beasley failed to cooperate with the league probe of the matter also involving Miami’s Mario Chalmers and Memphis’ Darrell Arthur. The two former Kansas teammates were fined $20,000 apiece last week after being banished from the rookie symposium.

RACING: ‘Shadow’ wins Jug

Shadow Play overcame a hoof separation to win the $551,225 Little Brown Jug yesterday at Delaware (Ohio) County Fairgrounds, pulling away for a 61/4-length victory in the second leg of the pacing Triple Crown.
