RANGEL THROWIN’ O BA$H

Embattled Rep. Charles Rangel, who has experienced friction with Barack Obama‘s campaign, is the featured attraction at a Harlem fund-raiser for the Democratic presidential nominee this month.

Rangel will hold the event for Obama at the Ricardo Steak House on Oct. 15, the same night Obama is slated to face off with John McCain in their final debate, at Hofstra University on Long Island.

The Rangel event is not being coordinated with the Obama campaign. But the invitation asks people not to give “corporate, credit-union or LLC checks.”

Obama aides didn’t respond to requests for comment about the event, being hosted by the steakhouse’s owner, the Bernice Singletary Democratic Club, and district leader Diane Green.

But it comes after the Democratic National Committee, in a move first reported by The Post, returned a $100,000 check from Rangel, citing Obama’s policy of not taking cash from political-action committees.
