CONSULATE VANDAL EYED IN CITY BOMBINGS

A vandal who spray-painted an “anarchy symbol” and threw a brick at the Greek Consulate on the Upper East Side early yesterday might be linked to bombing attacks at the British and Mexican consulates and the Times Square military recruiting center, police said.

“Detectives are examining the possibility that this latest attack on a consulate may be attached to previous ones,” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.

Police have video of a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt on a gold or yellow bicycle pedaling up to the consulate on East 79th Street at 4:18 a.m. and spray-painting “murderer alex was here,” in black.

He also sprayed what police called an “anarchy symbol,” which they would not describe.

“Alex,” police said, probably refers to 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos, who was fatally shot by cops in Athens during a demonstration last Friday.

His death sparked days of riots in Greece, and a demonstration by about 25 people at the consulate here a few hours after the vandal struck.
