DELGO

HE sounds like an auto parts supplier and looks like a vaguely simian reptile: “Delgo” is the rash, Luke Skywalker-like hero who must avenge his family in a battle with a rival population of winged trolls in a deeply unattractive animated feature.

“Delgo,” which features a some-star cast (Freddie Prinze Jr., Chris Kattan, Burt Reynolds), has been looking for distribution so long that it features Anne Bancroft, who has been dead for three years, as the wicked “Sedessa,” who plans to restart the long-simmering feud between her flying race and Delgo’s kind. To complicate matters, Delgo falls for Sedessa’s compatriot Princess Kyla (Jennifer Love Hewitt).

A few magic rocks and tepid battle scenes do little to inspire interest in the goings-on as Malcolm McDowell and Eric Idle spout villainy and punch lines, respectively.

Running time: 88 minutes. Rated PG (mild violence). At the Empire, the Battery Park City, others.
