BAM’S AFGHAN CLAN PLAN

I want to commend Ralph Peters and his excellent article, “Bam Channels LBJ” (Post- Opinion, March 28).

I agree that India is fast becoming a success, because it has embraced capitalist ideals.

I also agree that Pakistan is a failure because it has been bullied by Islamist fanatics.

Hasn’t Peters done enough damage with his support of the $3 trillion war in Iraq?

In our state of fragile economy, I am in shock and awe of his ideas.

I want my $315 million-a-day spending from Iraq back before he starts talking about spending in Afghanistan.

I feel no safer, just poorer.

Once again, Peters has his finger on the pulse of what’s happening in Afghanistan.

If we are there for the sole purpose of eliminating al Qaeda, why worry about the Pakistanis or the Taliban? They are not our friends.

The idea of spending money on these cave-dwellers is not only stupid, it’s irresponsible.

As Peters states, Pakistan has no desire for our so-called nation-building, and it cares as much for our lifestyle as we do theirs.

Let’s start to be less involved in that part of the world and not jeopardize our friendship with the best ally we have there — India.
