CW takes five with series renewals

At least five of The CW’s drama series will be returning next season.

The network on Thursday gave early renewals to two first-year shows — “The Originals” and “Reign” — as well as “Arrow,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Supernatural.”

With the pick-ups, “Supernatural” will reach its 10th season in 2014-15, while “Vampire Diaries” gets its sixth season and “Arrow” — The CW’s most-watched show with 3.9 million viewers — its third.

“The Originals” (3.3 million viewers) and “Reign” (2.35 million viewers) are also averaging enough viewers to earn second seasons.

Decisions on the network’s remaining dramas — “Hart of Dixie,” “Beauty and the Beast” “The Tomorrow People” and “The Carrie Diaries” — have yet to be made.
