Al Gore’s camp, Larry David’s ex-wife deny reports of affair

Pals of Al Gore and the eco-warrior ex-wife of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David today denied a sensational report that the pair has been carrying on a torrid affair for the past two years.

Gore’s steamy, ongoing romance with sexy Hollywood powerhouse Laurie David, who co-produced his Oscar-winning flick “Inconvenient Truth,” was behind his shocking split from high-school-sweetheart Tipper two weeks ago, according to the bombshell story in the latest edition of Star magazine.

“It’s love,” one source told the mag, which hits newsstands tomorrow. “They went from friends to lovers. It couldn’t be avoided. They have a lot in common.”

Laurie David, 52, immediately blasted the report as “completely untrue.”

“It’s a total fabrication,” she told the Huffington Post, where she regularly blogs.

” I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce.”

Friends of Gore also scoffed at the “insane” notion that the pair are an item.

But Star noted that even Al Gore himself had a difficult time accepting the pair’s unstoppable lust for each other.

“Al felt bad about falling for someone else because he has so much respect for Tipper,” the source said.

“[But] Al fell hard for Laurie. She took his breath away. They’re very passionate about each other.”

The pair allegedly forged their romance over the years while attending scores of conferences on global warming — the eco-cause dearest to their hearts — and spending countless hours toiling over their famed, Oscar-winning flick about the environmental dilemma.

Tipper, 61, quickly became wise to her 62-year-old hubby’s philandering ways but waited a while to see how things would shake out — and when it became clear that Al wasn’t going to give up his mistress, she agreed to split, the source told the mag.

“Tipper is a homebody and is not into the Hollywood scene,” the source said. “But Laurie is a mover and a shaker. She’s glamorous and fun. When Al became interested in that lifestyle, Tipper backed away. That was part of the split.

“It was hard, but it had to be done. Even Tipper said it was better to move on.”

She and Al privately settled on divorcing at the beginning of the year, the mag said.

But Al Gore was already allegedly positioning himself for the move as early as October, when he scooped up a manse in Montecito, Calif., to be closer to Laurie.

“The house is their love nest. Tipper had nothing to do with picking it out,” the insider told Star. “It was bought with Laurie in mind.”

Still, the famous father of four has no plans to marry Laurie, who has two children with her ex.

“Al has told close friends that he will never marry again. Tipper is the only wife he’s ever going to have,” the source said. “He’s never had a chance to be single. He wants to experience that.”
