Center Doug Weight will return to the Islanders next season, according to ESPN.com.
The 39-year-old captain told ESPN in a text message that he has reached an agreement, but the terms of the deal are still being finalized. Islanders general manager Garth Snow confirmed the agreement.
Weight will be entering his third season with the Islanders. He has 1,024 points in his 19-year NHL career.
