John Campbell is again in the driver’s seat with the horse to beat Saturday night in the $1 million Meadowlands Pace.
Campbell holds the stakes record with seven wins. He bids to extend that mark with Rock N Roll Heaven, the 5-2 favorite in the 10-horse field of 3-year-olds.
Rock N Roll Heaven won last week in 1:47 3/5, a record for a Pace elimination.
The three elim winners earned the right to select their post positions for the final. OK Commander, who captured his heat in 1:47 4/5, was scratched. His spot was taken by Delmarvalous.
Campbell made the call for Rock N Roll Heaven and the Hall of Famer tabbed No. 3.
“We don’t want the rail where there is a chance you’ll get shoved down in there, and not get a chance to race,” Campbell said.
