Girls soccer roundup: Duo push Terriers past Trinity

Wendy Avendano and Mary Canicatti made quite a pair.

The midfielders teamed up to score the first of two St. Francis Prep goals in a 3-0 win over host Holy Trinity in CHSAA Nassau/Suffolk girls soccer Wednesday.

Avendano got the ball back on a give and go with Canicatti to give SFP (4-8-1) a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. She returned the favor to Canicatti, who had two assists, shortly after to make it 2-0 at the half. Kelsey Dittmeier made eight saves. Holy Trinity is 1-10-0.

Archbishop Molloy 4, St. Mary’s 2: Kyra Meli scored twice and dished out an assist for Archbishop Molloy (7-7-0) in CHSAA Nassau/Suffolk. Victoria Antonino had two goals and Gabby Antonino and Michelle Sabogal both added assists. St. Mary’s is 1-9-1.

Mary Louis 10, St. Dominic 0: Kathy Cole tallied a hat trick for Mary Louis (5-7-2) on Senior Day in CHSAA Nassau/Suffolk. Emma Pastori and Victoria Zacharuk both scored twice. St. Dominic is 0-8-1.

Fontbonne Hall 9, St. Edmund 0: Rachel Gersh and Kristiana Padavona both scored twice for Fontbonne (9-0-0) in CHSaA Brooklyn/Queens. Katie Henderson added three assists. St. Edmund is 4-4-0.

Notre Dame Academy 8, St. Peter’s 3: Caroline Conte, scored twice for Notre Dame Academy (5-2-0), who had seven different players score in CHSAA Staten Island. Emily D’Arpe recorded a hat trick for St. Peters (0-8-1)
