A car accident in Brooklyn this morning sent seven people, including two children, to the hospital after a car slammed into five other vehicles, authorities said.
The collision was so violent that the roof of a black Mercedes had to be cut off like the top of a tin can to allow firefighters to remove two passengers, witnesses said.
The accident occurred at 8:43 a.m. close to the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Grand Army Plaza near the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library in Park Slope.

Witnesses said a silver Ford Explorer was speeding along Flatbush Avenue when it hit two cars, then got wedged in between two other vehicles.
The seven injured people — including the two passengers in the Mercedes — were taken to Methodist and Kings County hospitals with minor injuries. All are listed in stable condition.
