MURRAY, N.Y. — Authorities say a man has died after his sport utility vehicle slammed into an automobile repair business in western New York, setting off a fire that damaged several other vehicles and boats.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office says the SUV’s driver apparently failed to negotiate a curve near an intersection on Route 31 in the town of Murray, 23 miles west of Rochester, around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies say the SUV struck a tow truck parked at A&M Automotive and Transmissions, causing both vehicles to burst into flames. Official say the two truck was pushed through a wooden fence and into two boats on trailers, a pickup truck and a car parked in a storage yard.

Deputies say all the vehicles sustained serious fire damage.

The driver, who hasn’t been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
